Dear 6th Grade Parents,

It is time for the 6th grade fundraiser for Outdoor Education, the Pancake Breakfast, Carnival and Used Book Sale!  This is the MOST important fundraiser for 6th grade as each dollar your student sells in tickets goes directly toward their camp fees!  If your student is planning to sell tickets, we ask that your student and you volunteer for the event.  You can find the Sign-Up Genius links for the breakfast, book sale and carnival on the Sixth Grade page of the Brywood PTA website (scroll to the bottom): http://www.brywoodpta.org/6th-grade/ The links can also be found on the Brywood app (click on “More” and then “6th Grade.” PLEASE NOTE: selling tickets for the Pancake Breakfast is encouraged but is optional.

On Thursday, September 13th, your student will be bringing home tickets to sell for the 6th Grade Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, September 29th.  This event is held to help offset costs for our students attending Outdoor Education camp on November 6th– 9th.   Each student sells tickets to our community and is credited the entire ticket cost ($5) toward their total to attend camp.  Tickets can be used for Pancake Breakfast, at the Used Book Sale (no change will be given if less than $5). Carnival tickets will be sold separately on the day of the event.  Each child tries to sell enough tickets (59) to cover the cost of $295.  The 6th Grade Committee then uses the used book sales to pay for any costs of the breakfast.  Please note if your ticket sales are more than your personal balance, you will not be reimbursed and it will go to the 6th grade general fund.

Your student will initially receive 10 tickets.  These tickets have cash value and you are responsible for any lost tickets.  They may get more tickets by turning in money they have collected for the tickets they sell.  They must turn in the money collected BEFORE receiving more tickets.  Please have them try to collect cash for the tickets.  If not, have customers write checks payable to you.  Then give your student cash or write one check for the total payable to Brywood Elementary.

Students may get more tickets and turn in money to our Ticket Coordinators. If your child is unable to stay after school to meet with a coordinator, please reach out to one of them via call or text.

The funds turned in after September 27th will not be credited to your personal account and will go towards the 6th grade general fund.  If your child will not be selling tickets, please have him/her return the initial 10 tickets to a ticket coordinator in order to avoid becoming financially responsible for them.

You will be financially responsible for any unused tickets not turned in.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Thank you so much!

Dear Parents of the Class of 2019,

Welcome back to a wonderful and exciting school year! First, I would like to thank all of you for helping make Multi Cultural Festival 2018 and Open House Night 2018 a success!  The money we raised through those two events has hopefully put us on the road to successful fundraising effort by the Class of 2019!

Our first big fundraising event of the year will be the 27th Annual Pancake Breakfast, Carnival and Used Book Sale.  It will take place on September 29, 2018 at 8:00am. 6th Grade students look forward to this event, and we will need as many student and parent volunteers as possible that day, so please mark your calendars.

I have attached an introduction letter, a Q&A document, and a preliminary 6th Grade Calendar of Events.  All of this information can also be found on the Brywood PTA website at www.brywoodpta.org under the “Sixth Grade” tab.  Please check the site regularly as we will update that information as often as possible.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at brywoodclass2019@brywoodpta.com and I can connect you with the appropriate member of the 6th Grade Committee.  Looking forward to a fantastic year!

Sincerely,

Abby Cruz

Hello 6th Grade Parents,

Welcome to 6th Grade!  There are many activities that will be taking place this year and we will need your help. Below is a list of 6th grade activities.

  • Pancake Breakfast – This event gives 6th graders the opportunity to earn money towards the cost of their Outdoor Education trip.  It needs the most volunteers to ensure our 6th graders raise enough money to support their trip.
  • Used Book Sale/Carnival
  • T-shirt & Sweatshirt Sales (Deadline to order Sweatshirts is September 28th)
  • After School Fundraisers
  • Outdoor Education
  • DARE Graduation
  • 6th Grade Field Trip
  • 6th Grade Dinner and DJ Party
  • 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony

The 6th grade activities are separate from PTA and are for 6th graders only.  This means the fundraising and volunteering must be done by our 6th graders and their families.  We are seeking donations from families with a recommended donation of $50 per student to help cover starting costs not provided by the school.  Checks can be written to Brywood PTA and all donations are tax deductible. PLEASE NOTE: This donation is voluntary, however the amount of donations we receive will directly impact the activities that will take place.  In past years the Sixth Grade fieldtrip has been to Knott’s Soak City; however if we do not raise enough money to cover that cost, the location will be changed.

We are also asking each family to sign up to volunteer for at least one or more 6th grade activities by early September.  A Sign Up Genius for the Pancake Breakfast/Used Book Sale/Carnival will be sent out by early September.

How can I donate?

  • Submit your donation to your 6th grade teacher or to Jeanne Chu, 6th Grade Treasurer.
  • Donate online: http://www.brywoodpta.org/support-us/pledge-drive/. There is a separate line item for the 6th grade donation on this form.
  • Installments: if you wish to pay your donation in installments, please speak with your child’s teacher to arrange that as they are happy to help.
  • Matching Gifts: If your company has a matching gift program, your donation could be eligible.  Please contact Abby Cruz at brywoodclass2019@brywoodpta.com for more information.

We hope all of you will think about how you can help your child’s 6th grade class.  Looking forward to a great year together!
